“Who Can Relate” Music and Lyrics by Hannah Baiardi © Hannah Baiardi Music 2021 She looks into a face And smiles are exchanged In him she sees herself Both lonely, overwhelmed A culture apart And a chasm between One moment one pause Captures their beating heart Who can relate Can we relate We’ve become frustrated Think that we’re alone Going through the motions In this fight alone Wishing for another life When the one you’ve got is here All differences aside What we share is fear Who can relate In these perilous times Who can you blame When you’re standing eye to eye Calling names, playing games War never wins One passion burning One hunger yearning For peace within Who can relate Look him in the eye Never frustrate your future born ally We’re all the same united through compassion But blinded by our prejudice and differences Can we see them as they are, with dignity (dignity, dignity…) Seeing the humanity in everyone Distractions are getting the best of us Who feels how I feel Our enemies don’t understand each other What have we learned And what are we teaching What will be our destiny What have we learned in this new age What can we do to quell this rage Look him in the eye Look her in the eye Look her in the soul We’re all we have in this fight

Distant Land 04:05
Distant Land Music & Lyrics by Hannah Baiardi ©Hannah Baiardi Music 2021 If only we were young and innocent And had a helping hand If only we were youthful dreamers Free to roam this land If we had the strength and peace of mind To let our souls be free Would we float away upon the wind In sheer ecstasy And wonder how we made it here To breathe this breath To feel the wind upon your back But wonder why instead There’s hatred That casts a pall on everything There's violent themes Crushing all our dreams There’s so much torment For children so innocent What does it mean To have a heart truly beat Just like I was someone new Peeking in on this strange world With a heart of a sweet child With a gift to give to Earth Would I crack a smile as I walked down the street And hold my head high greet everyone I meet And wonder how we made it here To breathe this breath To feel the wind upon your back But it’s all inside my head Tell me When will peace be our guiding hand When will the children of this land Come alive in each one of us Come alive in each one of us And bring forth the best in us today When will the life in us guide us to a place Where our heart are one And our pain’s erased When will we feel what it’s like to breathe The breath that life gives And hold it dear like your mother did When she gave you her first kiss Ohh.. Cmon Take me, make me, take me, make me fall in love Take me, make me, take me, just take me to the great escape Outro: Take me take me to the great escape Where all is real ain’t nothin’ here fake No distractions, lies or hate Your gonna paint your picture n’ choose your fate Raise yourself to a new vibration Lose the drama seek a new sensation Ask for me and believe your get it This is our moment, our time don’t forget it. Take me, take me a distant land.. Take my hand...

about

Straight from the Soul has been a journey of authenticity, learning to honor my evolving sound and appreciate the range of influences
music from my childhood. From the lyrical and evocative music of Michel Legrand and Alan and Marilyn Bergman to influences of reggaeton,
bossa nova, spoken word, R&B and New Age, you’ll hear it all. Writing
and arranging these songs has been a very personal and emotional
experience. For me, this is the first step of truly embracing my sound
and honoring the many influences I’ve had over the years. It was a joy
to work with seasoned Detroit jazz musicians too, making the album
effortless to record. Straight from the Soul has more purpose still due
to its timing. In the midst of the pandemic, I hope the album provides
a measure of comfort, solace and relief....and hope.
